Max, a brilliant mathematician is believes that there is an observable pattern present in all aspects of life, including the stock market. In his quest to find this pattern, he slides down into insanity. The people surrounding him, including a benefactor, a Kabala sect, and his mentor, only serve to grease the slippery slope into madness.
